Objective 1.
“all learners will develop the skills, knowledge and value base to be active citizens in creating a more sustainable society”
- LSC to produce guidance on good practice and disseminate advice on green and sustainable development issues
- DFES to work closely with NCSL to ensure school leaders at all levels including those being trained and prepared for leadership roles, are able to integrate sustainable development into all aspects of their leadership and management of schools.

Objective 2
“We will pursue the highest standards of environmental management across all properties owned and managed by the department and its associated bodies”

Objective 3
“We will encourage and support all publicly funded educational establishments to help them operate to the highest environmental standards”
DFEE will:
- Develop web based sustainability web based assessment tool ‘School Environmental Assessment Method’ (SEAM)
- LSC funded study in FE sector
- Establish an Energy Efficiency certification
